Welcome to Hemlock Grove Therapy
I gratefully acknowledge that live and work as an uninvited guest in Ladysmith, British Columbia on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Coast Salish People, including the Snuneymuxw and Stz’uminus Nations, whose relationship with the lands have existed since time immemorial and continue to this day.
The name Hemlock Grove is a love letter to nature and its capacity to be the container for all that is too much to bear. The great western hemlock tree is a true symbol of safety and resilience. Its curved branches allow for heavy snow and ice to effortlessly slide off its limbs, leaving the tree unburdened by excessive weight. This mighty giant can live hundreds of years, bearing witness to the ever-changing landscape of its surroundings. Even with its sturdy presence and rigid bark, it has a tenderness in its feathery flat needles and springy boughs. The grove signifies protection and a place for all those seeking connection.
The beautiful complexity of this tree is a mirror for us to reflect on our own dynamic experience as a human. There are countless sentient beings and elements of nature that gift this to us. Landscapes, animals, and plants support us in our connection to and understanding of the world and our inner wisdoms. The grandiose of nature is both holder and healer to our joys and suffering.
